BRAC founder Dr. Fazle Hasan Abed receives an Honorary Doctorate of Law Degree from Columbia University.On May 21, 2008 in Morningside Heights, thousands of graduates of Columbia University participated in the institution's school-wide commencement ceremony. Among them was Dr. Fazle Hasan Abed.
‘For his comprehensive approach to fighting poverty, for the powerful model of social change that he has given the world, and for his abiding commitment to serving the poorest and the most vulnerable among us,’ Columbia University conferred upon Dr. Abed the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa.Dr. Abed is also the recipient of the first Clinton Global Citizenship Award, the Ramon Magsaysay Prize and the UNICEF Maurite Pate Award, among others.
