Creative Giving: Is Bigger Better?

In the June 2 issue of Forbes magazine, David Armstrong writes about BRAC founder Dr. Fazle Abed and BRAC's accomplishments in Bangladesh and its mission in Africa:

Using market incentives, Fazle Hasan Abed built the largest antipoverty group in the world and helped pull Bangladesh out of the ashes. Now he wants to take on Africa.

Microfinance Meets Wall Street

In a recent op-ed published in Forbes magazine, Susan Davis, President and CEO of BRAC USA and Rod Dubitsky, Managing Director at Credit Suisse, discuss the trend where increasing number of MFIs are accessing for-profit capital from mainstream wall-street investors. They nicely outline both the pro's and con's of this fairly recent phenomenon, highlighting three recent deals (BRAC-Citibank Securitization, Blue Orchard's collateralized loan obligation, and the Compartamos IPO)
